Revised Rent Law to Address Landlord Concerns
Government of India is planning on bringing modified rent control norms in favor of the landlords to address their following concerns:
- forceful occupation of the property by tenants
- provision to revise the rent as per the market situation after certain time period
The new model will set a “standard rate” which would be the floor rate for a particular area.
The central government has instructed the state government of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Delhi to put in place the new model.
